No matter how you look at it, it's a trojan horse (the greek one, not the virii). Just because the receivers of this gift are too stupid to look inside the box, doesn't mean that it's not underhanded and sneaky.

Sadly, I just don't see most users being smart enough to a.) care about what they're clicking yes too, and b.) smart enough to know it's an application and not some kind of plugin for itunes.

I wish I was wrong about them, but I stand by my words. Anyone who cares enough about web browsers knows where to find them. I don't think this is brilliant, and I don't really see it helping to increase their browser market, so I don't really see a point. But that's just my opinion... lol.

On my Mac when Apple gives me software I have a choice which ones to download or not. Sometimes there are stuff I don't want, so I uncheck it. Unlike my windows updater "we've got 7 updates, we can install them all (or not)"

A trojan horse is a bad thing: "to undermine or bring about the downfall of an enemy or opponent" or "designed to breach the security of a computer system while ostensibly performing some innocuous function". If the trojan horse had a sign that says "people inside" it's not really the same thing.

This is more like a prize in a box of cereal, you may not want it, but you can throw it way if you want.

A brilliant move? What's the matter with you man? I only have QuickTime, but that stupid Apple updater pops up every single time there is a new iTunes (NOT QuickTime) update, even though I explicitly ignore the "update" every time. You only have click too quickly once (everyone makes mistakes) and BOOM, you've got another unwanted 100 MB Apple program on your computer (which also steals the file associations).

And you are trying to tell us that you actually like that Apple is so arrogant? All I can say is shame on you. Shame.
