I wonder how accurate these polls are. If they are legitimate votes it raises some good questions. But, I'd like to take them with a grain of salt. I vote for polls that I know nothing about all the time... just so I can see the results. I have a 20 inch Apple Cinema Display that obviously has a matte finish, as well as a 20 inch HP display that has a glossy finish. Movies look a hell of a lot better on the glossy one, but designing stuff in photoshop on that one can be a pain. While I agree that Apple is dumb for removing our options, I don't really see a big enough difference to complain about the lack of matte finish.

I wonder how many of these "voters" have actually used both a glossy screen and a matte screen side by side. My guess, not many...

I DID GO TO A STORE, and checked out the new MacBook Pro's and the reflections were INTOLERABLE.

People who say reflections are a non-issue, must realise that this is a personal thing. It affects some people's eyes more than others. So don't call it bullshit.

Do a google search for "glossy matte poll", and you'll find dozens of polls on the subject.

Here's a review of some results (who prefer matte):

72%

Average: 56%. That's a majority. Actually, it ties in what what the local Apple store salesman told me, which is that it's roughly 50-50 of people who prefer matte and gloss.
